The Artists
Lyman Dally | website:
oentourage.com
Artist Bio | Lyman Dally overlays a two-decade career in editorial illustration with expressive classical painting. While completing over 5,000 published illustrations for magazines such as Maxim, AdWeek, and Muscular Development, Lyman explored the seductive road to wine discovery. In 2008, he began portraying his vinicultural impressions on canvas through a technically-rigorous “Old Masters” approach that lends realism to his fantastical subjects. The resulting body of work has won awards and attracted collectors.
Artist statement | Like a good wine, art should never come off as bland and predictable. As vintners put love, time and experience into their wine, I blend the same ingredients into my signature style of surrealistic wine art. Created primarily in oil paint, my work ferments the wine drinking experience into a rich blend of seduction, suggestion and dark humor.
Kevin Lynn | website:
kevlynnphoto.com
Artist Bio | A photographer for 30 years..... my original inspirations were the classic Black & White movies of Howard Hawks & Orson Welles. Moving to the east coast and beginning to shoot fashion & editorial....I loved the work of Patrick Demarchelier, Greg Gorman & Herb Ritts.... Their composition and use of negative space.... always looking into the dark.
Because of my work in the Wine Industry I had the opportunity to expand my vision to include a different viewpoint of the art of Wine & Winemaking. The work has been featured In the "Napa Wine Auction", the "High Museum" in Atlanta and shows and private collections from Los Angeles to Atlanta & New York.
Artist statement | The most memorable moments in my life are ones that seem to have almost slipped by......were almost overlooked, but upon closer examination were so engaging that they are all that I remember about that place in time, that day, that look, that emotion......These moments are what I seek to discover in my photographs.
André H. Mack | website:
moutonnoirwines.net
Artist Bio | Mouton Noir Wines are unique and distinctive garage wines produced by Andre H. Mack. Founded in 2004, Mouton Noir Wines began producing wines for New York City restaurants for which Andre was the sommelier. Their first label, Mouton Noir Wines' Montgomery Place, was released in 2008 and was made in their California warehouse.
Despite having a successful career with Citicorp Investment Services, André Mack decided to leave his “desk job” to pursue his passion for wine. While working as a sommelier in San Antonio, Mack was awarded the prestigious title of Best Young Sommelier in America by the highly regarded Chaine des Rotisseurs. Mack has been featured in major publications, such as Food and Wine, Wine and Spirits Magazine, The New York Times, Women’s Health, Ebony, and Black Enterprise. Mr. Mack was honored in 2007 with The Network Journal’s 40-Under-Forty Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to business. At 35 years old, Mack is a zealous wine educator who has been invited to host seminars as well as conduct panel discussions at numerous esteemed food and wine events. He enjoys sharing his fondness of wine with others.
Tara O'Leary | website:
taraoleary.com
Artist Bio | Tara O'Leary is an award winning artist, showing her work locally and in the tri-state area for the past 20 years. Her paintings are included in many private and corporate collections across the country and internationally. Nature and its beauty have been the inspiration for her work for many years. Her newest works are inspired by vineyards both from memory and photos of places she’s been and seen.
“I am fascinated by the sensuousness of Light. To witness the morning light, the filtered light through the trees and the soft haze of a fog. To capture nature’s essence and communicate it with my painting. To consciously avoid elaboration, rather leave a soft mark that allows the viewer to fill in the rest...the way the fog slowly lifts on a misty morning.”
Artist statement | "I have been captivated by vineyards ever since my first visit to Napa Valley. The beauty and bounty of nature, lovingly sculpted, planted and tended by man, nourished by rain, wind and sun, this wonderful creation. I marvel at the rows of trellised grapes, their long, parallel lines leading somewhere.....to the edge of a mountain, or to a shady arbor... perhaps pointing the way to the winery.
The spirit of the vineyard is almost palpable – the warmth of the sun, the coolness of the rain, the hands of the workers, all coming together to produce this beautiful fruit that in turn becomes wine.
The wine, like life itself, is then shared, savored, and celebrated. It is that spirit that I strive to capture, along with the beauty inherent in the vineyards themselves."
