FORMATIONS by Robert Ramos : FORMATIONS | New Works by Robert Ramos | A Solo Exhibition NEW DATE | Reception: Saturday, November 17th | 6-9 pm On View thru November 29, 2012 GAS Gallery And Studio presents new works by Robert Ramos in a solo exhibition titled FORMATIONS. The show of new work is ON VIEW through November 29th, with a scheduled ARTIST RECEPTION on Saturday November 17th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. "I have always been fascinated with the the internal workings of all things mechanical and architectural. From pinball machines, to clocks, and the working of gears, unlocking the puzzle of movement has taken me from traditional two dimensional painting, to a fanciful exploration of my earlier architectonic paintings. Deconstructing surface images, to reveal the structure that lies beneath them lets me break down a static image into layers, which when viewed from different angles, changes the structure of the painting. The interplay of light and shadow is also an important component to my work. I like to see just how much depth I can imply in a relatively shallow space. By floating elements of line and color against each other, I can create dense, color rich dioramas evocative of the mechanical workings that intrigue me. My most recent experimentations have included the use of cut vellum to produce a more minimal contrast to my normally brighter palette. These works are what I like to consider three-dimensional line drawings. The translucent quality of the paper allows pencil, or ink, to stay on the surface as a delicate line, and the shadows that flow through the cuts to create the impression of a second mark on the background where none exists. These differ from the color saturated pieces in that they are almost completely dependent on light to "finish" them." - Robert Ramos Robert Ramos has been a professional artist for over twenty-five years, and has been part of many solo and group shows in New York and New Jersey. His work is part of the permanent collection of the Newark Museum, as well as the corporate collections of IBM, AT&T, Nabisco and the New York Stock Exchange. Past commissions include work for Lee Iacocca and Lawrence Grossman, with several large-scale sculptures created for a multitude of corporate headquarters throughout the east coast. In addition to his fine art career, Mr. Ramos is often sought as a consultant for residential art installations and space planning for clients with important art collections. For the past five years, Mr. Ramos has served as the gallery director and curator for ARTS UNBOUND in Orange New Jersey. Working closely with the director of education, Robert has worked to create a schedule of exhibits tailored to the specific needs of artists with disabilities while at the same time offering advice on presentation, framing and marketing to help further advance the artists careers through developing their promotional skills. As part of his involvement with ARTS UNBOUND, Robert has designed and directed the opening of two retail "pop-up" holiday stores in Maplewood New Jersey, which helped expand awareness and brand identity of the gallery and craft sections of its location to a much larger audience. Robert Ramos studied at Parsons School of Design and The New York School of Interior Design. This is Mr. Ramos' first solo exhibition at GAS Gallery And Studio.

ELUSIVE IMAGERY : ELUSIVE IMAGERY Presented by GAS Gallery And Studio and Joe Walentiny (Galerie Cerulean / Abstract Art Online) Artist Reception: Saturday September 15, 2012 | Time: 6 pm - 9 pm Exhibit Dates: September 8 - October 6, 2012 ELUSIVE IMAGERY Some of the work in this show is directly inclusive of recognizable imagery, specifically of people and/or places. At the other end of the spectrum are purely abstract paintings that do not appear to reference anything. Regardless of the inclusion of recognizable forms or lack thereof, all of these artists are firmly rooted in the expressive language of abstract art. While Mikel Frank and Janet Shapiro-Walentiny make use of pictures in their pieces, these serve primarily as visual components; albeit from a subjective mindset. Marianne Van Lent’s paintings strongly suggest landscapes but indirectly from a lyrical perspective. Ravenna Taylor’s work suggests personal and somewhat interior spaces, also with a poetic emphasis. Iona Kleinhaut’s etchings are perhaps the most extremely non-figurative pieces in the show but her rendering is simultaneously universal and idiosyncratic. My own work (Joe Walentiny) aims to tap into the organic order and chaos found in nature with a celebration of both. The unifying factor for all this work is that the imagery for each artist cannot be pinned down to any single interpretation but must be understood within a holistic context. Formal elements such as color, composition and texture vary from artist to artist as does subject matter and the range of expression. But in all cases the imagery is always referential however directly or not. In the end what breathes life into this work, collectively and individually, is the intangibility that subsequently frees up the interpretation of what this art is and means. - Joe Walentiny Artist Biographies Mikel Frank | visualpassion.net/ Mikel Frank is a resident of Maplewood, New Jersey and holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Maryland Institute, College of Art, Baltimore, Maryland. Since April 2002 Mikel has been the leader of a local artist critique group called The Contemporary Artists Forum. He has been curator for a number of Contemporary Artists Forum Exhibitions. He also sits on the Advisory Board of the “1978 Maplewood Arts Center” in Maplewood, NJ and is co-chair of the exhibitions committee. Iona Kleinhaut | ionakleinhaut.com Iona Kleinhaut lives in New York City where her art has been exhibited at The New Museum, The Drawing Center, The Bronx Museum of the Arts and the Painting Center. Founded in 2004, Mouton Noir Wines began producing wines for New York City restaurants for which Andre was the sommelier. Their first label, Mouton Noir Wines' Montgomery Place, was released in 2008 and was made in their California warehouse. Despite having a successful career with Citicorp Investment Services, André Mack decided to leave his “desk job” to pursue his passion for wine. While working as a sommelier in San Antonio, Mack was awarded the prestigious title of Best Young Sommelier in America by the highly regarded Chaine des Rotisseurs. Mack has been featured in major publications, such as Food and Wine, Wine and Spirits Magazine, The New York Times, Women’s Health, Ebony, and Black Enterprise. Her newest works are inspired by vineyards both from memory and photos of places she’s been and seen. “I am fascinated by the sensuousness of Light. To witness the morning light, the filtered light through the trees and the soft haze of a fog. To capture nature’s essence and communicate it with my painting. Robert Cenedella Robert Cenedella is a master of pictorial satire and fantasy, justly celebrated for his paintings revealing all aspects of big-city life. As part of New York’s art community for over three decades, he paints everything and everybody from cameo likenesses of celebrities to those of the common man. His pictures of subways, symphonies, sports arenas, street scenes and drinking establishments are quintessentially New York. He has had one-man shows throughout the United States and Europe. His first Berlin exhibition, In Search of DADA, was in 1994, and coincided with the George Grosz Centennial Exhibition at the National Galerie in Berlin. He returned to Germany in October 2006 for a one-man retrospective at the Otto-Nagel Galerie, also in Berlin. PASSING: A Collaboration : PASSING: A COLLABORATION Revisited - presented by GAS Gallery And Studio and 1978 Maplewood Arts Center. This is a TWO (2) Day Event Artist Reception: Thursday August 4, 2011 / 6:00pm - 9:00pm Live Collaboration In Studio: Saturday August 6, 2011 / 11:00am - 5:00pm - This event is FREE. Open to the public and Families. Refreshments. If you missed the actual event back in April, NOW is your chance to see the completed painting: "THE PASSING". Meet the artists Gerard Amsellem and Mikel Frank, and see the first edited version of the video that was shot live the day of the collaboration. April 23, 2011 marked the first "creation exhibit" of its kind at GAS Gallery And Studio in Maplewood, when Gerard Amsellem and Mikel Frank created a giant 3-panel painting in front of a live audience. Local Maplewood painters, Gerard Amsellem and Mikel Frank took on a project of humongous proportions entitled PASSING: A COLLABORATION. Amsellem and Frank had been painting together for several months in Frank’s studio. Rather than showing the products of their collaboration in a traditional gallery setting they had decided to share the experience with the public by making a painting on the premesis at GAS Gallery And Studio in Maplewood, NJ. Beginning at 11:00 a.m. and going into the evening, they created an abstract painting on a canvas 8 feet high by 15 feet wide. The public was invited and encouraged to stop by the gallery any time during the painting session. The event culminated in a party at the end of the painting day and all were invited to come back and see the finished product and join the artists in a toast and other refreshments. Other works by Rick Hauser and Micha Hamilton were also on view. GAS Gallery And Studio is located at 411 Ridgewood Road, Maplewood, NJ.

ARTIST STATEMENTS: Jeremy Moss - Working in my normal medium, photography, I am inspired by patterns, texture, light and nature’s palette, I gravitate towards organic elements that surround us on a daily basis. In this new body of work this is also evident. Moving away from mediums I have used before; film, watercolor and ink, my organic journey explored the use of Open Acrylics. It has been an exhilarating experience. Enjoy. Beach St since 2003. Nigel Freeman - My still life series is a new body of work in which I attempt to adapt my personal style to a very familiar form of genre painting. They represent a balancing act between the various competing interests in my painting in general and within each composition. I hope to create harmony between the observed and imagined, the real and surreal, flatness and depth. Describing these arrangements of ordinary shapes and forms in the evening, I felt a sense of freedom released under the cover of darkness. I hope to leave the viewer evocative scenes of strange beauty from something simple and uncomplicated. Beach St since 2004. Patrick Ravix - I don’t set out to produce artwork about one subject or another. My art and emotions take me to places and events that I’ve been and feel nostalgic about, places I could have been and hope to be at. The infusion of ideas come from all over, whether it is the sky, people or all the great wonders of nature. It is my perspective on existence and the richness of experience through this life. Beach St since 2004. Steven J. King - Simply stated, an image is worth a lot of words. I have been participating in group art shows since 1992. Beach St since 2000. Jeremy Shires - I work in charcoal, ink, watercolor and oils, this current work uses mixed media on paper. The ink-wash drawings borrow from the styles of 19th century botanical art and antique Italian landscape drawings. In this ‘environmental series’ each wilderness setting is placed in the context of ‘wheat paste’ posters of the frontier expansion era. Foreign stylistic elements of imagined classical ruins and Japanese animation/graffiti are placed into each drawing. Beach St since 2005.

For the past two years i commemorated his birthday by expressing the void he left in my life, through my creations. The first show was in 2009 and it was called 7 Stars from you, 7 Stars to you. In that show I exhibited 7 of my stars and 7 of his stars. The second show was in 2010 and was a series of my paintings before and after his death. This year will be my final expression of the void he left in my life. The title is: j'écris, je crie, I write, I scream. My brother was a painter, a writer and a conceptual artist. He loved to play with words not unlike the title chosen for this show. I created three canvases which were inspired by his creativity, his presence and absence. On one wall, you will see my canvases with writings about my feelings. These writings are my SCREAM, which express my difficulty in accepting the he is not here. "SCENES FROM THE GARDEN STATE" | by Marc Hamburger : SCENES FROM THE GARDEN STATE | by Marc Hamburger / July 2 - Aug. 6, 2010 SHOW DESCRIPTION | "Scenes from the Garden State,” my first gallery show, speaks for itself. I was lucky to have spent all of my summers on Long Beach Island and the beauty of this shore community has always stayed with me. Even through today, I manage to spend most summer weekends there and I find a treasure trove of photographic opportunities wherever I look. From a quiet sunset by a jetty in Holgate to the majesty of “Ol’ Barney” at the northern end of the island, there is a great abundance of images to be had. A visit to a friend’s house in Ocean Grove one stormy summer day afforded me the chance to capture the energy of the ocean at the local fishing pier. Living locally in Millburn, I am also fortunate to have many chances to photograph nature’s beauty in my own backyard. From the South Mountain Reservation in the fall to Taylor Park in the winter, I have been afforded the opportunity to capture great images. I hope you enjoy them as much as I've enjoyed taking them. ARTIST BIO | It started with a lie 30 years ago and it has become my passion. A white lie in order to buy my first camera, prior to starting my junior year in high school. I started by shooting sporting events for my high school year book, then submitting pictures to the local paper and moving on to “stringing” for the Star-Ledger, shooting high school sports throughout New Jersey during my college years. I didn't become a photographer for Sports Illustrated or The National Geographic like I wanted but the passion stayed with me. Eventually, I turned to nature and landscape photography (a lot less motion than sports), gave pictures to family and friends and recently, I was published in the Star-Ledger sponsored book, Great Destinations NJ, where one of my photos won People's Choice Award for the shore category. Through encouragement from my friends and family, this has led to my first gallery show of my pictures.

FIERCE CREATURES by Sandra Charlap : FIERCE CREATURES | by SANDRA CHARLAP / June 8 - July 2, 2010 SHOW DESCRIPTION / Inhabiting a strange, private world all my own, these fierce little creatures have emerged from my subconscious. Painted in a mad flurry at the start of spring on the first glorious day they sprouted on the boards and papers and canvases as if they were just waiting to appear. This type of painting is completely new to me. I have been accustomed to painting and drawing things that are reality based, often stylized but very much steeped in the recognizable world. This new series pushes aside control and has allowed me the freedom to add, subtract and complement what is on the surface at any given time. I look at these paintings as something akin to Jazz music. There is a form and structure, however in a constant state of viewing (as opposed to listening) I have reactive responses that can shape and shift the painting utterly from where it had begun. A fascination with the sea has always been inherent in my work, but I have also opened the door to new landscapes and the flora and fauna that inhabit them. I have decided to work in acrylic as well as acrylic mediums, pen and ink and colored pencil to work these paintings out. This material is also new to me and has been incredible fun to work with. Bujarski / May 1 - June 4, 2010 SHOW DESCRIPTION / The images in this show are from a very particular part of Mexico, that of the small historic cities and towns of the interior. This setting provides a canvas of cobblestones, rich colors, and a sky at times so incredibly blue that it presents a new scale for what can be true. But, except for sky and the absence of smog, it is not a perfect or pure world - there are signs of poverty, particularly in the tourist areas, there are signs of physical decay here and there, as if it didn't matter, and then too, the primitive tangle of overhead wires, everywhere. Street colors are the counterpoint. For me, nothing comes close to the fearlessness and brashness with which Mexicans paint their buildings, the unexpected confrontations between pastels and primaries, the fusions of Ochres and Oranges, the almost infinite constellations of Greens and Blues. And each painted building propped against the clean sky. The photographs capture bits and pieces of these colors, and then, inspired by the streets, move beyond. ** Artist's Note / The images were all shot on slide film, with the slides scanned and the images put through Photoshop for the final digital printing. For the most part the only Photoshop adjustments made were to recapture the brightness and color intensity of the original slides. (With, however, the exception of the "Dark Market" photograph, where, sinner that I became, I used Photoshop to bring up images and color from an essentially black slide.)

"BODYLINES" | by Ron Brown : BODYLINES | by Ron Brown / March 7 - April 2, 2010 Part of my photography is classical, focusing on form, line, texture and tonality. I do this with still life, architectural images and, in this show, with the human figure. My goal, usually, is to capture the uniqueness, often the beauty, of the subject. My approach is to distill, by cropping and deleting detail, to focus on the one element i want to highlight. I use various materials (e.g., infrared film) and various techniques (e.g., high contrast, minimal and defocused printing) attempting to create a unique perspective. Ultimately, I try to portray something familiar (e.g., knees or hands) in a new light. Thus, a line defines a body; texture enhances reality; a torso suggests waves. The photographs in this show are transformative and the transformation is at the heart of what i do.

Last year I showed 7 stars by him and I created 7 stars for him. From me to him. That was our first show together. This year I chose to show the paintings I did before and after his death. In my eulogy of him, I said that I would represent the continuation of his creativity and his contribution to the world. There are 23 paintings, pastels and mixed media on wood or Acrylic on canvas in this exhibit. 14 are from before his death, and 9 were completed after his death. The first 14 paintings were created while he was still alive, when we discussed having a show together. The last 9 are works that I produced after his passing. The impact of his absence on my paintings, my grief and pain are in my paintings. BEFORE | From The Inside is the name of the series of work from before his death. From the inside comes the strength, the passion and the impossible which is without definition until the end. Each person contributes to the world vibrations and the sum of their inner experience. By going inside, we explore our self image, our being and our view of the world. Unleash everything, express without limit, scream with all your being. AFTER | From The Higher Side is the name of the series of 7 paintings completed after his death. When I feel what is not there anymore, I replace it with a vision beyond human existence. I look at the sky, the water, the trees and I feel my brother's soul in my paintings. Quiet, peaceful with a trace of infinity. Walter Zimmerman NEWER WORK 2011 : NEWER WORK: Sculpture by Walter Zimmerman Exhibition: October 4 - November 2, 2011 Artist Reception: Thursday October 13, 2011 / 6:00pm - 9:00pm ABOUT THE WORK For the past two years, I’ve been making things out of the cheapest imaginable materials – materials designed to be filled with trash and then thrown away, or plastic tubing meant to be buried in the back yard, to channel away unwanted ground water. I tie knots in these things; I bundle them and glue them together. Then I distort these plastic conglomerates, using a heat gun, to see how the plastic will shrink or tear, or to watch as unexpectedly weird shapes emerge. Then, I coat these transformed specimens with layer after layer of paint, or shellac, or stain, until the objects become encrusted, and transformed. When the proper surface sense of desolation has finally been achieved, the works strike me less as having been consciously made, and more as having happened, like recorded upheavals along a tectonic fault, or the inadvertent discovery of a nest of underground cocoons. One may resemble the topographical map of an isolated kingdom in central Asia. Another may suggest the recently recovered, mummified remains of a sacrifice to some long-forgotten deity. At their most successful, these works subtly vibrate with suppressed vitality, and a sense of imminent emergency. ABOUT THE ARTIST / A Brief Biography : Walter Zimmerman If my life were a house, art would make up the basement, the outside walls, and the roof – it has been the supportive foundation of who I am, the definition within which I work on a daily basis, and the goal toward which I have always been striving. Through an inadvertently picturesque upbringing (serial relocations, drastic family fractures, twelve public schools attended by high school graduation), access to paper and crayons was as necessary to me as food and shelter. On active duty in the US Air Force, during the Vietnam Era, I managed to do oil paintings in my barracks room. While working on a BA at Penn State, I teetered between painting and theater as outlets for a restless need to create. Even after graduation, and while holding the most uninspiring jobs (waiter, computer operator, market research phone geek, investment banking file clerk), I persisted in making things – Xerox prints of shredded paper, drawings on the back of discarded file folders. Few materials were too lowly or undignified for my use. But the discovery of glass blowing, in 1990, and the possibility of adding a new skill to my creative bag of tricks, took my art life in a drastically new direction. By 1992, I was enrolled in the MFA glass program in the School for American Craft, at Rochester Institute of Technology; by 1994, I had completed my degree work. Residencies and juried group shows followed. I had my first-ever solo glass exhibit, in Brooklyn NY, in 1996. Another small show at the Everson Museum, in Syracuse NY, in 1997, brought the support of glass immortal Dale Chihuly. Now, having taught glassblowing at the college level for seven years, at Philadephia PA’s University of the Arts, I find myself at another creative crossroads. The new, larger suspended figural works -- informed equally by early Northern Renaissance religious art, and by the paintings of Francis Bacon -- demand my attention, and insist that I make more, more. The personal support and generosity of my partner Dr. John Sheridan make this on-going exploration possible. The positive input and patient support of the Maplewood/South Orange arts community energize and encourage me. And the institutional validation and practical support of the GAS Gallery And Studio is allowing me to achieve much-needed clarity in this newest stage of a life-long creative experiment.

Such a wonderful surprise to see such strong professional and personal work online. She celebrates every day life and weddings. But there's an exotic side to her also, which I selected from. She is definitely manifesting photography as an art form, no matter what the mode. Greg Leshé | greglesheprojects.com/ As a versatile multi-media artist, his imagery is informed by his whole "lifescape." His work intrigues me with his creative orientation to his body, as he negotiates his personal history with how and where he is today. Responding to me, he has brought together imagery from two different photo sessions, to create a terrific trio. Rick Hauser My first encounter with Rick was at the Contemporary Artist Forum, over ten years ago. His black and white studies back then impressed me. Thus, I first started collecting photography by purchasing Rick's work. Just as capable with color, and always experimenting, Rick continues to impress. Peter Kolonia The photos that Pete took at my 2007 civil union party brought home his capabilities as a photographer. As an senior editor at Popular Photography magazine, it simply underscores what a consummate professional he really is. From fundamental narrative realism to zen-like abstractions, Pete shares with the others in this show a delightful perceptual versatility. For this presentation I went with his abstractions. Jeremy Moss | mosspix.com/ I first began collecting Jeremy's work two years ago, when he participated in the Maplewood/South Orange Artist Studio Tour. Adept at singling out dynamic moments in his surroundings, I respond particularly to his organic studies, pushing them into the abstract realm. From his varied portfolio, I even include a sunset. Skip Dye This is Skip's first photography show, the only neophyte in the group. Other than images from his lush garden, he only pulls out his camera when he travels. In 2008, he began portraying his vinicultural impressions on canvas through a technically-rigorous “Old Masters” approach that lends realism to his fantastical subjects. Founded in 2004, Mouton Noir Wines began producing wines for New York City restaurants for which Andre was the sommelier. Their first label, Mouton Noir Wines' Montgomery Place, was released in 2008 and was made in their California warehouse. Despite having a successful career with Citicorp Investment Services, André Mack decided to leave his “desk job” to pursue his passion for wine. While working as a sommelier in San Antonio, Mack was awarded the prestigious title of Best Young Sommelier in America by the highly regarded Chaine des Rotisseurs. Mack has been featured in major publications, such as Food and Wine, Wine and Spirits Magazine, The New York Times, Women’s Health, Ebony, and Black Enterprise. Her paintings are included in many private and corporate collections across the country and internationally. Nature and its beauty have been the inspiration for her work for many years. Her newest works are inspired by vineyards both from memory and photos of places she’s been and seen. “I am fascinated by the sensuousness of Light. To witness the morning light, the filtered light through the trees and the soft haze of a fog. To capture nature’s essence and communicate it with my painting. Despite Gerard and Mikel having been collaborating for only 2 short years, they have discovered a deep and undeniable shared vision. They are both incredibly passionate about the arts and the visual arts in particular. On Sunday May 20th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Mikel Frank and Gerard Amsellem will be painting 5 doors that will be used in the Visual Passion installation at Gallery 1978. Gerard and Mikel will be talking about the particulars of the Visual Passion Experience at Gallery 1978 and will be showing some of the video footage of people being asked questions on love, which will be used for the show in July. Also on display at GAS Gallery And Studio will be recent collaborative paintings that the artists have been producing. This preview exhibition will continue at GAS until May 31st. The artists will have the Visual Passion: On Love poster available for sale at an affordable price to help fund the Visual Passion: On Love project. A wine and cheese reception and toast to the artists will follow from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Gerard and Mikel still may not be able to resist throwing more paint at the doors during the reception. NOTE: The Springfield Avenue Partnership is hosting MayFest on Springfield Avenue this same day (Sunday May 20). Visual Passion: On Love Gerard and Mikel will delve into territory that begins to break down the traditional ways of looking at and experiencing art. Instead of going into the gallery and only looking at work on the walls, they have developed a different approach that will include installation, interactive community involvement, performance, video presentation and interviews, as well as traditional live painting and two dimensional display. Visual Passion: On Love | A Collaboration by artists: Mikel Frank and Gerard Amsellem Official Proposal/description: Location: 1978 Maplewood Arts Center, 1978 Springfield Ave., Maplewood, NJ Dates: Sunday, July 1 through Sunday July 29, 2012 Open Hours: The artists will be working each weekend in July. Open public hours will be Saturdays and Sundays 2pm to 5pm. The Visual Passion Experience will take place beginning Thursday July 26 and run through Sunday July 29, 2012. Purpose: To create an organic, multimedia, interactive ART environment and experience exploring the topic of visual passion and love installed at 1978 Maplewood Arts Center, Maplewood, New Jersey during the month of July 2012. The Project: “Visual Passion: On Love” will exhibit the light side of love and the dark side of love. In the front windows the artists will install two environments having to do with the light side and dark side of human interaction and love. On the middle walls of the gallery the artists will be working together on live collaborative painting projects throughout the month. In the rear of the gallery the artists will set up a stage in front of the left wall with a projection wall behind it where they will show films and interviews about love and passion. On the right rear side of the gallery an interactive painting station will be set up for visitors to paint on 12”x12” canvases their own visual interpretations of love. These paintings will be made into a mosaic and exhibited throughout the run of the show. There will also be a blackboard wall that the artists call “the writing on the wall” where visitors will have the opportunity to write or draw their personal interpretations on love. The Visual Passion Experience: From Thursday evening, July 26 through Sunday July 29, 2012 the public is invited to have the complete visual passion experience. This will begin a four day, public interactive, multimedia art collaboration/narrative. It will be the culmination of and introduction to the world of love through the collaborative efforts and creative eyes of these two artists. The goal is to engage members of the public in a multimedia art reality quite different than the standard gallery going experience. There will be interactive elements such as real time video where the public can record comments, actors who will interact with the public, live performance pieces, musical and other artistic elements so that the visitor can be fully immersed in the Visual Passion Experience. Films: In conjunction with Visual Passion: On Love project the artists will be showing a series of films for the public to get an idea of how filmmakers have been inspired by the subject of passion and love. Composer and musician Richard Einhorn has given the artists permission to use his soundtrack Voices of Light with the screening of The Passion of Joan of Arc, a Carl Th. Dreyer film from 1928. Gerard Amsellem will be giving introductory talks on the films. Performances: Performance artist Eloise Fornieles will be appearing as part of the Visual Passion Experience. Eloise is an internationally known performance artist who has done a number of acclaimed performances on love and passion. Picked as one of the top international shows during March/April 2012 by Saatchi Online Magazine. It has been said that Ms. Fornieles “teases out the symbolic resonances that hold meaning within our everyday interactions.”
