Kathy Cantwell has been painting for four decades. Notable artists who have influenced her are Alice Neel, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Matisse, Edward Hopper, Jack Levine, David Hockney, Roy Lichtenstein and Lucian Freud.
Kathy majored in painting at C.W. Post College, and at LIU in Greenvale, NY she received a BFA with a major in painting. She has exhibited in group shows in Long Island, New York City, and New Jersey. She has been commissioned for numerous paintings.
Specializing in urban and small town landscapes, Cantwell saturates the canvas with color, providing a play of lights and reflections. Her images contain architecture, utilities, nature and people.
